This week, we feature a 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 550 owned by MBCA member Greg Greeson of Austin, Texas. Finished in Palladium Silver over Charcoal and showing only 43,000 miles, Greg’s SL has been carefully modified with personal touches to create his ideal version of the R230.

Some of Greg’s upgrades include AMG SL 63 mufflers, an SL 63 carbon-fiber rear diffuser, and a Eurocharged tune. Inside, he added a custom-designed and fabricated flat-bottomed carbon-fiber and Alcantara steering wheel with SL 63 shift paddles. The original burl walnut trim on the doors, shift knob, and center console was also replaced with carbon fiber. 

Some members may recognize Greg as an automotive designer and illustrator. His Mercedes-Benz Design Appraisal articles and posters appeared in The Star throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s. Hundreds of his posters were also sold through the Club Store, Mercedes-Benz dealerships, and the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center.
